Important Notice: Border Measures and New Measures upon Entry into Japan (Update) |
Effective January 9, 2021 until the declaration of a state of emergency in Japan is lifted, all people who enter
Japan from overseas will be subject to inspections at the time of entry.
From January 13, 2021, all foreign nationals (regardless of nationality) who enter Japan from all countries and
regions are required to present an "Inspection Certificate of COVID-19 test" issued within 72 hours before departure.
If you cannot submit the inspection certificate issued within 72 hours before departure, you will be asked to wait at
an accommodation facility secured by the quarantine station. Please be sure to prepare the inspection certificate prior to your departure. (If you have been in the United Kingdom or South Africa, you will still be on standby even
if you have an inspection certificate.） |

Temporary Suspension of Entry to Japan from
All Countries and Territories |
As of October 1, 2020, entry to Japan has been permitted as a general rule from all countries and territories on the
condition that the host company or organization is implementing measures to prevent COVID-19 infection.
However, new entry to Japan under this system will be denied from all countries and territories between December 28,
2020 and the end of January 2021. As a general rule, holders of visas issued under the above system are allowed to
enter Japan, excluding cases where non-Japanese nationals are entering Japan after having visited a country or
territory at
Infectious Disease Risk Information Level 3 or above
within the 14 days prior to the date of application for landing in Japan. |
